This painting is inspired by the Mark Twain quote, "Everyone is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody." It depicts a moonlit landscape with a figure standing in the foreground. The figure is facing the the woods, but their face is turned away, obscured by shadow. This suggests that the figure is hiding something, or perhaps that they are simply not ready to reveal their true selves.

The painting is a reminder that we are all complex and multifaceted beings. We are not simply the sum of our positive qualities. We also have our flaws and our shadows, and these are just as much a part of us as our light.
